Wedding Trends of 2010

With wedding season here, my efforts have been focused in on finding out what brides of 2010 want for their special day.  Endless research and questioning has lead me to see many trends that these fashion forward women are looking for.  Let's begin by talking about the cake!

The Wedding Cake
Although our economy is in a recession, this doesn't mean you can
not have a beautiful and cost effective piece of confectionary.  We all love the look of fondant, I mean its elegant, beautiful, and you can create anything with this flexible frosting.  But, the downfall to fondant is the taste and the expense.  So, why not create a beautiful cake with buttercream, lower your cost, and still have an elegant cake that people will enjoy with their eyes and their tastebuds.  I have searching local bakeries in Cleveland for cakes that are eye appealing and tastey.  Here are some local companies I recommend in the Cleveland/Akron area that will not break your budget but will also leave your guests loving the it till the last bite.

From personal experience, these ladies were a pleasure to work with.  I highly recommend their Italian Meringue Frosting, it's light and airy for those of us who do not want a really sugary frosting.  Their lemon filling is wonderful and their cake is always moist.  I have ordered our wedding, one year anniversary, and baby shower cake from this vendor.

If you like canoli's, then you have to try their canoli filling in their cake, this filling is simply amazing.  The bakery is located on Cleveland's near east side in Maple Heights and has been in existince since 1949.  The atmospher within the bakery itself is energetic and you can even sometimes get a glimpse of them working hard on various cakes.

Wedding Colors of 2010

Color and lots of it is the trend for 2010.  Choose monochromatic palettes with bright colors.  The colors of the year are:
Vibrant Colors:  orange, green, yellow, pink
Metallic Colors:  gold, silver, copper, pewter
Black is back as color for 2010

Wedding Season

Wedding season is here!  There is so much that a bride must begin to think about....

What type of invitations should I get?

What is the trend right now in terms of colors?

What kind of unique favors should I give my guests?

What about my programs, table numbers, guest seating charts, etc...where do I begin?

So much to think about and so little time to design and produce.  We at KMJ understand that these little details are stressful, yet these details can make your wedding last in your friends and families minds.  We enjoy taking a theme or color combination and working with our brides and grooms to create a design that is unique to you!  Our invitations are made of the finest papers, with the finest inks, and with such attention to detail.

Wanting a unique favor for your special day?  Tired of seeing the same favors over and over again?  KMJ Boutique will sit down with each bride and groom and cater to their needs, their tastes, and their budgets.  How about specializing your favors so that you have one for the men at your wedding and one for the women?

Not only are we great at customizing your wedding favors and stationary, but we also offer customized jewelry and bridal party wear.  All our jewelry is made with Swarvoski crystals to give our brides and bridal party that glimmery touch.  Our prebridal wear (tanks, tees, flower girl shirts, shorts, sweat suits, hats, etc.) comes either silk screened and or we can do Swarvoski rhinestones.  All of our items are customized to our brides.  Let us know what you would like and the colors and we will gladly put together unique and trendy gifts for you and your bridal party.

One last item, we also will customize the bottoms of your shoes with Swarvoski rhinestones.  Want your new last name on them?  How about bridal sayings like, "I Do", or "Just Married."  The possibilities are endless.

Here are some random ideas that we at KMJ have used for our brides.

    Holiday Shows a Success

Our holiday season has thus far kicked off with a bang. We have just finished our third craft show and are on our way to our final one tonight and Saturday. Looking back we had many positives that have come out of each and everyone. Our biggest show was the Century Oak Nursing Home. This show was dear to our hearts. KMJ Boutique donated 10% of its profits to help support the Berea Animal Shelter. We are such fans of these little creatures and anything we can do to help keep them healthy and find good homes, we will do.

    Custom Baby Boy Shower Invitation

We are excited to show you our custom baby boy shower invitation we recently created for a client.  We love when clients have a particular theme in mind, our creative juices just start taking off and lead us to amazing results.  Our client is having a little boy and is decorating his room completely in sports motif.  We took this theme and created a cute invitation.  We used a textured brown paper that appears to look like leather for the football.  We named the front of our invite for our client and then topped it off with a laced up center for the invitees to open.  The card swivels open on each side to reveal more sports gear on the inside.  We created a basketball with a shiny black outline and a sparkly orange ball, a soccer ball with shiny black pentagons, and a baseball with sparkly red lacing.  We then added a little baseball bat that has the time of the shower cut out.

We received rave reviews from our clients (even the father was stunned by the design).  We cannot wait for the feedback from the invitees!

    Wonderful Thanksgiving!

Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Now starts the holiday rush, it seems that we wait all year for this joyous season and just like that with a blink of the eye, the season has passed.  I myself believe that retailers and their marketing think tanks are pushing this holiday season earlier and earlier each year.  Pretty soon, we will be seeing Christmas ads in the summer months.

This year I have had much to be thankful for.  I am thankful for my beautiful baby girl who was born at the beginning of the year, I am thankful for my wonderful husband who had the mighty task of putting up with me for nine months, I am thankful for my health and the health of my family, and I am also thankful that my brother in-law (and also the husband of the co-owner of KMJ Boutique) has recovered nicely from cancer and is rid of that horrible disease.  I hope that during this time of year, you have taken some minutes out of your busy day to look back at what you are most thankful for.

Continuing on, KMJ as we had stated in our last post has officially launched.  We have had great support from our friends and family and are already receiving inquiries for custom orders.  We are excited for our upcoming craft shows and for the beginning of the year so that we can kick off our wedding season.  Lots of new things are in the works, and we cannot wait to share them with you!  So stay tuned into our site, our blog, and look for us on twitter....many exciting things are coming soon!
